Gunn was studying of the British American Drama Academy in London at the time of 1988. When she moved into Laurel Canyon Los Angeles she shared a house with Pamela Adlon. Gunn is known for her character Skyler White in Breaking, an AMC drama show Breaking. Gunn was nominated to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2013 and 2014. Her performance was a winner in 2013 and 2014. In August of 2013 she wrote an article in an op-ed piece for The New York Times that focused on the negative reaction of the public towards her character.
